Hello again, Fans! Carolyn Malachi has helped children on the other side of the planet; sold out the Apollo; and now, she’s releasing her new song with The Indie Chicks. As promised, today we present part 2 of Carolyn’s Spotlight Interview along with the exclusive listen to “Fall Winter Spring Summer” off her highly-anticipated, upcoming album, GOLD.

Fall Winter Spring Summer

Carolyn Malachi, Exclusive ListenYour sound is so unique. What was the inspiration behind GOLD?

I have learned that “within all adversity lies the seed of equal or greater benefit”. Napoleon Hill said that. The past two years have been an incredible journey – lots of exciting hits and odd misses. With the upcoming GOLD album, I am depicting “gold” as being an ever-appreciating commodity: self-empowerment.  The individual songs immerse listeners in stories about their inner Gold, teaching them how to embrace and transform into this state of being by album’s end.

Your music is so soulful and the energy with which you created can literally be heard in your work. Do you do anything to mentally/physically prepare for recording and/or performances?

Oh, yes. My band puts in work. We get into comical, sometimes heated discussions about what the songs mean and how to approach the music. We care about delivering a world-class, immersive and memorable experience. Ultimately, our goal is to connect this real music to your real life. We love what we do, and we have fun doing it.

Individually, I do jumping jacks and listen to African music before shows. Right now, I’m really into Soukous and Kwaito. There’s something about singing loud and wrong in another language that takes the edge off of pre-show jitters. It also reminds me that music is a universal language.

When will you be touring for GOLD and where may we see your performance schedule?

You can see my performance schedule at CarolynMalachi.com/Calendar. The official GOLD tour begins July 14 with a special unplugged performance at the Smithsonian Museum of Art. While performances in LA, Bmore, NYC and other locales punctuate the schedule, I am really excited about performing at Blues Alley in DC on July 25.
