For this week’s spotlight, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Jeannie Lorin, Founder and CEO of Beauty Society, the most amazing cosmetics company that combines healthy ingredients with an eco-consciousness and mantra of female empowerment and environmental sustainability. (I came across Beauty Society in December through Catrina from Crazy Bitch Society – Thank You, Cat!) The afternoon I learned about the company, I just HAD to speak to the woman responsible for its inception. Jeannie’s mission of empowering women through sharing their love of beauty products worthy of obsession is one that resonates through her Divas as well as celebrity fans and loyalists of Beauty Society. What type of work did you do before you developed Beauty Society?
I have always been in sales during my professional career before starting Beauty Society. I did take quite a few years off to become a stay at home mom to my 3 youngest children (that was a crazy job, lol) When it was time for me to get back to work, I decided to do what my school counselors always told us to do… something I loved and cared about. At the time and still my biggest concern was aging. My biggest love was hanging out with my girlfriends… so I created the best of both worlds. Highest quality products worlds wide, a business opportunity for all and girlfriend time!
How is your approach different from the other cosmetic companies’?
We strive 100% to be a company with a conscience. When I first started researching the skincare and cosmetic industry I was honestly appalled by the lack of quality in the products that were being sold at both low and high prices. I felt I uncovered the ‘dirty little secret’ in the industry, companies making unbelievable profits and not putting out products that worked, and in some cases that were bad for people. I then knew we had a niche!
What would you say to a woman who is purchasing her make-up based only on affordability and not paying attention to quality?
I fully understand the need to look at affordability! There have been plenty of times in my life where being on a budget was extremely critical. Knowledge is power…research products and ingredients that are in your budget. We are proud that women have joined us based upon affordability and reap the rewards to have access to high quality products while selling them too!
Where do you see Beauty Society going in the next 5 years?
My intention has always been and will always continue to be…build the largest beauty company in the world, with women! The everyone wins business model while maintain a company with a conscience.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
The best advice I have received is be yourself, true to yourself and your convictions. So never give up!
What would you say to one of your divas who has just started with her kit but has had no sales experience?
This is not high pressure with sales pitches…we are about sharing something that you love and believe in while making new friends. The billboards to our company are the faces of our customers and our sales Reps and testimonials of real women.
