Ok, so it would be completely impossible for me to even begin describing how fucking amazing this movie was!! Now yes, I’m a huge Batman fan and have read the comics and will die for Bruce Wayne but this movie, or rather trilogy, of movies really blew my mind. Christopher Nolan really did this franchise justice with the completion of this movie.

Out of respect for those that haven’t been fortunate enough to see this film I will not give away any plot points or spoilers but rather will give you a solid outline of the film. Now if you haven’t seen ANY of the other movies (where the hell have you been??) I suggest taking a day and doing a marathon. They really do all tie in together as only the best of trilogies do, some characters from the first movie return to cause some inner turmoil for our dear Bruce Wayne. And trust me nothing is worse than trying to figure out who the fuck someone is during the movie.

Now warning: the movie is 2 hours and 45 minutes long and the first hour of that movie is set-up, just like the other ones. If you’re not good at sitting through long movies then I suggest you pick the first show time, grab some snacks and settle in. I’ve warned you so I don’t want to hear any complaining about how its too long and was boring…

So let’s talk characters, while it’s hard for me to believe it’s been brought to my attention that some of you don’t know who the hell Bane is. Well, Bane has been one of Batman’s more physically and intellectually powerful foes. He is best known for breaking Batman’s back in the “Knightfall” story arc. If you pay attention that epic moment is referenced in the movie. Tom Hardy (Bane) does an incredible job of fully immersing himself in the character, as always, and provides a frightening nemesis for Batman. You have to remember throughout this entire film all you see of Bane’s face are his eyes, in my opinion it takes some real acting chops to convey that raw emotion with just the eyes. Completely different from the epic performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker, Bane is the muscle that puts fear into the whole of Gotham.

I will admit, I wasn’t really on board with Anne Hathaway as Catwoman; for me Michelle Pfeiffer owns that role. But after leaving the theater I was satisfied with her role in the movie. Instead of the over sexed vixen we’re used to seeing, she provides a darker, cynical Selina Kyle and makes the character much more real. Anne’s Catwoman is that little baddass in all of us that’s just waiting to come out.

We of course see the return of our beloved Alfred (Michael Caine) and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) they can do no wrong in my eyes. And are perfect in there respective roles although after watching all three movies we can definitely see time wearing on these two film warriors. Doesn’t matter though those two are eternally wonderful. Also, joining the cast are two beautiful creatures Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard but I can’t tell you much about them because it would ruin it for you.

Ok so now I just want to see the movie again, and probably will. I hope you all take some time out and see this film too. Its perfect for a date night, girls night, family night, you name it you can find an excuse to see it.

Definitely giving it 5 out of 5 on the Indie Scale!

I am not a huge Batman fan though I’ve seen the prior two movies. I’m sure I will be seeing this but doubtful in the theater because I’m cheap. ;) I have a real issue with Anne Hathaway so I’m happy to hear that you feel she did the character justice. Now I’m actually looking forward to seeing how she pulled it off because to me she’s just not scary or cynical. Another great review! Thanks.
