So many times in life we here about what we shouldn’t do, what to avoid, or how to control our impulses. Who has the time or the energy for that all that time? Not me, that’s for damned sure. I’m not here to tell you do give in to urges if your urge is to harm others, or be a bitch, but there are certainly ways to pamper yourself that I encourage. I’m not just talking about when you want a pick me up either; it’s about realizing that life is very dull without some pampering and indulgences.
Accessory or Jewelry? Who cares…just get one!
I already talked to you guys about my love of fall fashions, hats, jackets, boots, and scarves, but I’m here to shed light on a new trend that I adore. It wasn’t until I tapped into the hip fashion forward youth (aka my youngest sister) that I learned about scarf necklaces. I gave her a look like, duh, you can drape a scarf like a necklace, that she corrected me. This is a whole new world of scarves. Whoever invented this is brilliant. Take an already popular fashion piece and make it more multipurpose than it already was…genius!
I found this one on Pinterest and there are plenty of others on there just like it. These aren’t widely available in stores yet but you can find them all over the place on ebay and especially in etsy stores. Don’t be shy, get out there and jump on board this fashion forward trend for a couple bucks.
I can’t tell you how many people I hear talking about how they have no new music or waiting before they buy an album to see what everyone thinks. A life without new music to expand my horizons is unfathomable to me. Yes, money is tight, but a .99 cent song isn’t going to break the bank. Who cares if it will annoy you in 3 months when it is over played, for now, indulge and enjoy. If I may be so bold, I’ll recommend my new album, Babel by Mumford and Sons. I freaking love it so much I can’t stand it. Give it a listen and see for yourself.
I’m far from a super girlie girl but I love having my nails done. I usually do my own to save money and because time spent sitting at a salon means more time away from my writing, but, I do love being pampered now and again by getting a professional manicure. It was a couple years ago that I had my first gel manicure and I fell in love. If I’m going to spend the money for a manicure, then an extra couple bucks to make it last 2-3 weeks is worth it for me. The newest craze in gel manicures is magnetic polish. After the polish is applied a magnet is used to pull the metal in the polish and create waves and patterns. I LOVE this new polish and suggest you treat yourself. For me there is nothing like seeing pretty nails flash across my keyboard to cheer me up.
Sleep Like A Queen
You work hard, and probably play harder, but you should sleep like a Queen. If you are anything like me you already don’t sleep enough, so the sleep you do get should be quality. If you ignore all my other pampering recommendations, please do yourself the favor of listening to this one! Whether you like a feather top, memory foam, sleep number, or egg crate top to your bed, be sure to top it off with great sheets.
Personally I love nothing more than a comfortable bed with lots of pillows that I can get lost in while I snuggle up to read or write. What really makes a great bed though is sliding into sheets that feel like a cool pool of liquid sexy. Your bare legs slipping down the silky soft sheets, your face cuddled by the most sumptuous materials. What’s better? I recommend the Hotel Collection Bedding, 800 Count Linens. You can find them at Macy’s but catch them on sale if you can, because they are a tad pricey but worth every penny!
Of course there are many other little ways to pamper yourself and thumb your nose at “experts” who tell you what you should and shouldn’t be doing. We are constantly fighting our budget, doctors, or conscious when making decisions throughout the day but it’s okay to give in now and then. Sure, you have a full To Do list, but take 20 minutes to read some of your book before you tackle the rest. Yes, you should eat healthy but that Hagen-Dazs mini cup is okay now and then.
What is your favorite indulgence?
