5 Big Reasons Why Blogging Is Important

bloggingforbusiness

Blogging is a big deal.  One of the first questions I ask potential clients when they seek my help for SEO and better organic search rankings is if they are blogging and how often.  Almost all of them either reply that they are not blogging or that they only blog once a month.  They don’t understand why blogging is important to building their online presence.

The reasons why blogging is important haven’t changed much, and yet, so many people still don’t understand or don’t feel like investing the time and/or money is not worth the benefits.  Although there are lots of benefits and reason for blogging, I’m going to share with you five of the biggest reasons why blogging is important, and what it can do for your business.

It’s The Hub For Your Business

There are simply some things that cannot be said in 140 characters or less, some ideas that can’t be formulated in a Facebook status or a Google+ post.  For more sophisticated ideas and information a blog post is the best channel to convey it.

I like to think of a blog as the home base or main hub for your business.  It’s where you attract, engage, convert, and retain your customers.  It’s where you create calls to action that compel; it’s where you invite your customers to become a part of your community.

Most times it’s the first time a potential customer sees your business and has contact with your brand.  It’s very important that impression be a good one if you are going to convert those potential customers into loyal fans of your brand.

Blogging Serves As The Voice For Your Business

What’s your business culture? What does your business value?  What are you passionate about?  A blog is the perfect place to convey your message; it’s a great way to be authentic and “relate able” by having a unique voice.  The style of your writing, the things you write about, the things you ask your visitors to do, the design- all say something about your business and help people identify your brand.

Blogging Makes You Better At Your Business

One unexpected benefit of blogging is the fact that you have to continue to grow and learn about your industry to keep your content up to date.  The more you learn and grow with your industry, the better you will be at what you do.

Blogging Establishes Credibility And Trust

This goes right along with creating a voice for your business and building your brand.  Blogging establishes trust because when you are authentic, people relate.  When you blog about your industry trends and establish yourself as a thought leader, people will trust that you know your industry and that the service you provide will be a good one.  Yes, blogging will do that.  It is part of creating social influence, which is controversial, but real nonetheless.

Blogging Increases Your Visibility In Organic Search

I can’t say enough about the importance of ranking high in organic search.  It is where you can reach your target audience at the closest point to the purchasing decision.  Blogging increases your visibility on search engines.  Frequently updated, original content ensures that search engine crawlers can find you.  Blogging also gives search engines a better idea of what your site is all about.

Those are my 5 big reasons why blogging is important but I want to hear from you.  Why do you think (or know) that blogging is important?  Is there anything that you can add to this list?  Sound off in the comments below.

I love this. For many of us, blogging is our outlet. I remember working as a social media department head at a marketing company and having to explain to small business owners what a blog was and why it was crucial they added it to their marketing strategy. Great points, Angie!
